The Beautiful Resort of Cabanas, Eastern Algarve - Portugal
Cabanas is a small fishing village situated 5 kilometers from the larger town of Tavira. Central to the village is an amazing natural lagoon where you can take a short boat crossing to one of the most beautiful beaches in the Algarve, where the golden sands seem to go on forever.
Cabanas village offers an excellent choice of restaurants, bars and typical Portuguese cafes, most of which run along the promenade and have fantastic lagoon and sea views.
Shopping facilities include two supermarkets, gift shops and a daily market where you can buy the best fresh produce.
Cabanas is situated in the Ria Formosa, a protected nature reserve and it is a great location for cycling, fishing, swimming, walking and bird watching (bicycles and fishing equipment are available for hire in the village).
East of the village, towards the Spanish border, lie the popular resorts Manta Rota and Monte Gordo. Both offer plenty to see and do and have excellent beaches. Tavira
Tavira is the most traditional of all the Algarve Towns with its cobbled streets and hidden bars and restaurants inviting long beaches, typical roofs and chimneys, this picturesque town offers a beautiful view over the Gilão River and its Roman bridge.

- São José (with Gothic and Manueline elements)

If you are browsing along the Travessa de Dona Brites, you will see beautiful medieval houses, with Gothic windows and portals. In the suburbs, at the village of Luz there is a Renaissance church, which has been a pilgrimage place for many centuries.
